“Each Malian must make the minimum sacrifice for his homeland” – MALI24

Economic operator of his State Mohamed Sacko CEO of SACKO HOLDING, since it is about him that it is the president of the Association of Jamana Kanu. He granted us an interview on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 as part of transition support.

Born in Bamako more precisely in Missira in commune 2 of the district of Bamako, originally from Banamba, Mr. El Hadj Mohamed Sacko tells us about his actions and social works within civil society as an operator in all sectors of economical activities.

You are an economic operator and president of an association, how was the idea of Jamana Kanu born, what was your motivation?

M. Sacko : As its name suggests, “Jamana Kanu” in French “love for the people”, our association was created less than two years ago in Missira. After the 13 districts of commune 2, it has expanded into the 6 communes of Bamako, the circles and the regions of the country. Beyond Mali, it is established abroad such as Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, the United States, and France

Can you tell us about your goals and visions?

When we do our works, many people adhere to them. I’m the president but I don’t make all the decisions. Each member occupies an important place, each has a role to play. Our president is called Maimouna Niaré, the deputy Ousmane Koné is the coordinator of the movement. We started with environmental protection, removing garbage from ditches, sensitizing women for sanitation on Sundays. The association is made up of men, women, young and old. Our goal is to exchange ideas and share experiences. The first priority is to consolidate links between citizens, find innovative ideas such as protecting the environment.

Your commitment to Mali is limitless?

Everyone must know their share of responsibility in the country, hence our commitment to Mali. If only to do a minimum service, for example to repair a damage caused. It is to contribute to the construction of the country. I give you an example at dawn our elderly people go to the mosque with all the difficulties because of the open ditches. To overcome this problem, we repair these ditches as citizens. We must not put everything on the back of the State, we are all the State as a citizen. It is enough to play your role of citizenship.

In addition, we intervene at the hospital of Missira, after having noted difficulties, in order to accompany women who have financial worries, children under 6 years old, kits for medical expenses, clothes for newborns etc

Are we talking about your great achievements in commune II and elsewhere?

We have made some modest achievements in commune II of the district of Bamako. Precisely at the reference center of the commune II, we have renovated the operating room, rehabilitated the road in an advanced state of degradation. Also, a year ago, we were in all the public establishments of the commune II namely Niarela, Sans fil, Hippodrome, Medina Coura, Missira to identify the needs in order to provide notebooks, boxes of chalk, new paintings. Then we were able to rebuild other directions, new toilets, roofs in order to put the schools back in a comfortable state to study like in Bema, Kita, Banamba, Kayes, Sikasso, Bougouni.

In the city of Banimokotié, we made 240 taps through our coordinator Oussama Ben Diakité. For all our actions, we first consult the traditional and customary legitimacy of the district under the eyes of the coordinator Bah Simpara. In short, everyone can express their love for the country through actions.

What are your actions in the field of sport?

We have sponsored sports activities such as football, basketball, handball, arm wrestling. The Association is an official sponsor for well-being. This is why Jamana kanou is present even in the horse fields. As proof, this year and last year, a week ago, we were in Tourounkoumbé with 300 horses that ran and among which are those that we bought. There are horses that bear the name of our association have won the victory. The door of our association is wide open for anyone who carries the love of the fatherland. Anyone who pursues his private interest cannot be a member of our team.

What is your contribution as an economic operator?

I am a basic economic operator but we have a social responsibility to boost other development projects. We operate in the cement industry and in the mining sector: gold, diamonds, limestone, lithium.

In November 2022, we laid the foundation stone of the Sacko Holding Sa factory, which is one of the major factories that will facilitate access to cement at an affordable price. To do this, we have partners (French, Chinese, Japanese…) who support us with an ethnic diversity: Sarakolés, Peulhs, Bambaras, Sonrhaïs….

Do you have a political intention?

Any action can be interpreted as political. In my opinion everyone can do politics but do otherwise with objectives and ideologies. You just have to aim for a specific objective when you do politics. In the near future and taking into account our initiatives, we intend to embark on it with better prospects to hold the torch of the country and make ourselves available to everyone.

What is your opinion on this transitional period?

This transition gave Mali its former value and dignity. These young people love Mali respond to the aspirations of the Malian people. I share their vision for Mali. I have the firm conviction that the country’s current senior officials will not hesitate to sacrifice themselves for the good of the people. I pray deeply for them through their unquestioned love for the country.

What advice can you give to young people?

For the young or old Malian, resident or established abroad, it is necessary to sacrifice oneself for the country because we have no other country than Mali. Loving one’s country is a jihad, an opportunity for me to invite all those who are there or elsewhere to invest themselves personally in the country.

The final word ?

I salute the team and really encourage them to continue in the same direction. A special prayer for our country in order to get out of the difficulties that weigh on us.

I thank the commitment of our authorities, starting with Assimi Goita, its Prime Minister Choguel K Maïga, the president of the CNT, Malick Diaw, the members of the government. I also salute the bravery of the army in ensuring our security in difficult conditions. I ask the authorities to maintain peace and social cohesion among the population.

May the good Lord protect them.

Kaduss Kadetty, Ibrahim
