At least three landslides were recorded this Thursday afternoon in the Costa Verdein the districts of Miraflores, Ravine y Magdalenabecause of magnitude 5.5 earthquake that shook Cañete.
This was confirmed to RPP Noticias, by the senior brigadier of the General Fire Department, Jaime Palacios, who indicated that the landslides affected the area of the slope next to the beach circuit of the Costa Verde in three points.
“There have been collapses in the Costa Verde as a result of the seismic movement at the height of the part of Miraflores, Barranco and I also have information that by the height of Magdalena. On a road, in the lane that is closest to the slope, but those who are going to circulate there must take all the precautionary measures, ”he said.
Call to citizenship
Along these lines, the brigadier called on citizens to have the emergency backpack always supplied, as well as to carry out drills in the homes so that each member of the family has a specific task in the event of an earthquake.
“We are very used to doing drills in schools, armed institutes, universities or work centers, but in our homes we do not do it and sometimes that is the main thing we have to do, assign ourselves functions, who accompanies grandpa to grandma or who It goes with the children, who takes out the keys and always has everything at hand and also, oddly enough, with the pets,” he said.
He also recalled that the telephone lines should only be used for emergencies after the shaking. He recommended that people use messaging services to communicate with family or loved ones.
Earthquake in Cañete
An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was recorded in Chilca, province of Cañete at 4:55 p.m. this Thursday. The epicenter was located 30 kilometers west of Chilca, Cañete and had a depth of 49 kilometers. So far, the authorities have not reported personal and material damage.
In the event of a major earthquake, the Civil Defense Institute (undecided) recommends having an emergency backpack ready with basic provisions and a reserve box that consists of a small pantry.
