The security services in Egypt managed to arrest a Brazilian doctor who posted a video clip on social media, documenting his harassment of an Egyptian girl.

The move by the Egyptian authorities came after the video caused a sensation on social media, amid calls for the doctor to be seized and held accountable.

And the Egyptian Ministry of Interior confirmed, through its Facebook account, that it “was able to arrest a foreigner who harassed a girl after he posted a video clip of the harassment incident on a social networking site on the Internet.”

The ministry added: “The security services were able to identify the victim and the perpetrator of the incident, take legal measures against him and submit to the competent prosecution.”

Egyptian media quoted the Brazilian “Forum” website, that the doctor “showed hostility to the woman who does not speak Portuguese well, photographed her face, and asked her sexist questions, taking advantage of the girl’s lack of understanding of his language, while she was trying to present papers in front of him, and the girl appeared responsive with his speech, assuming One of them is that he talks about papers.”

Tweeters launched a tag entitled “# Hold the Brazilian_ Harasser”, which made the trend on Twitter, in which they demanded “the need for the relevant authorities to move to prevent him from traveling until he is investigated, and legal measures are taken against him, according to Egyptian law.”
