San Salvador – Morocco has succeeded in neutralizing the threat posed by the “polisario” in El Guerguerat, said Salvadoran expert in international relations, Napoleon Campos, stressing that the separatist group has no legitimacy.
“Morocco was able to neutralize the threat posed by the + polisario + and restore civil and commercial mobility at the El Guerguerat passage, noted Mr. Campos in an article published on the information site“ Bitacora ”, adding that “The Kingdom shows commitment to the ceasefire agreement, unlike the separatists who called for war”.
The United Nations, the African Union and the European Union, he recalled, expressed their support for Morocco’s commitment to the ceasefire and negotiations within the framework of the initiative. autonomy to find a solution to this artificial dispute around the Moroccan Sahara, noting that “the Kingdom, which is a partner of the Central American Integration System (SICA), has succeeded in strengthening its relations with the countries of this region”.
For the Salvadoran academician, the blocking of traffic at the crossing between Morocco and Mauritania is a “flagrant violation of the political process” carried out under the auspices of the UN to find a solution to the artificial dispute. The United Nations Security Council, he noted, has repeatedly expressed concern about the presence of armed Polisario groups in El Guerguerat and has ordered them to withdraw and refrain from carrying out military activities. acts of destabilization in the region.
Mr. Campos noted that the maneuvers and provocations of the “polisario”, widely supported politically, financially, logistically and militarily by Algeria, aim to divert attention from the failures of the separatists, highlighting the growing international support for the plan. autonomy, qualified by the various UN Security Council resolutions as “serious and credible”.
In this wake, he highlighted the economic and social development in the southern provinces of the Kingdom, a dynamic that was underlined in the reports of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, specifying that the opening of consulates general of many countries in the towns of Laâyoune and Dakhla will have deeply annoyed the “polisario” who indulged in destabilization maneuvers in the region.
The political analyst added that the provocations of the “polisario” can also be explained by the creation of the “Sahraouis pour la paix” (MSP) movement, which notably includes former elements of the separatist group who reject the corrupt practices of a declining leadership, accomplice of Algeria, which, for decades, supported a gang by means derived from income from energy resources, to the detriment of the will of the Algerian people.
And to recall that the MSP, which called for an end to provocations and acts of destabilization of the “polisario”, wants to be a legitimate interlocutor to cooperate and to adhere in a responsible way to the negotiations aiming for a political solution to the artificial dispute around the Moroccan Sahara on the basis of the autonomy initiative.
According to the Salvadoran expert, the UN is called upon to force the “polisario”, which lacks legitimacy and which is on the verge of bursting against a backdrop of internal tensions, to comply with UN decisions, warning Algeria against the fueling of the conflict as it recently did by ordering the separatist militias to destabilize the region of El Guerguerat.
