The election victory of Joe Biden (77) can no longer be taken. That’s what the results say, the media – and Georgia’s Interior Minister Brad Raffensperger (65).
He resists the election fraud allegations by Donald Trump (74). «Were there invalid votes? Certainly. And my office will examine them all. Does the number of votes or the difference increase so significantly that Donald Trump gets the votes from Georgia’s electorate? That is unlikely, ”said Raffensperger on November 9th. The Republican was only narrowly elected in a runoff election in 2018 and is responsible for ensuring that the elections run correctly in highly competitive Georgia.
Raffensperger hated his party friends for his clear stance. Among other things, the two Senate candidates, who will face a runoff election on January 5, demanded his resignation.
Raffensperger defends himself on Facebook – and continues to mess with his party. He even describes one of the leading Republicans in his state as a “liar”.
Raffensperger is apparently putting a lot of pressure on his party friends. In an interview with the Washington Post, Raffensperger accuses Trump confidante Lindsey Graham (65) of having asked him directly about the possibility of annihilating valid votes.
Raffensperger leaves his party
In Georgia, Trump and Joe Biden are only 14,000 votes apart. Because of the tight result, it is counted by hand. So far there have only been a handful of changing votes per district – in both political directions.
In the past few days, Trump had claimed in numerous tweets, among other things, that the election officials in Georgia were not able to properly verify signatures on postal voting envelopes due to a law.
While numerous leading Republicans support Trump in his baseless claims, Raffensperger holds against it. On Facebook he writes, among other things, that the signatures are even checked twice before a postal vote counts.
About the assertion by Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani (76) that the local electoral system is linked to Venezuela and China, Raffensberger emphatically taunts that it is American-owned: “America. ‘Merica. Not Venezuela. #America.”
Did Trump confidante want to manipulate Georgia election?
Meanwhile, Trump’s fans are calling to protest the election results in Atlanta, Georgia, next weekend. However, a graphic that advertises a “March for Trump” is already causing a lot of ridicule online.
This not only because the name of the state was misspelled instead of “Georgia” with “Georiga” – but also because the state is colored blue on the demo call. That stands for Biden’s Democrats instead of Trump’s Republicans.
