The two statues were made by sculptor Andy Scott using thousands of pieces of galvanized steel. These statues will be illuminated with blue lights in the evening.

Born in Glasgow and a graduate of Art College, Andy Scott is one of the world’s best-known sculptors thanks to his innovative style that draws on traditional craftsmanship and modern manufacturing techniques, and his distinguished portfolio includes more than 80 contemporary art projects in the UK and around the world, and Andy is currently working From his studio in Philadelphia, USA, he sculpts his artwork using galvanized steel.

The artist began work on the two sculptures of Kompany and Silva in June 2020, and they were flown by Etihad Airways on schedule from Philadelphia to Manchester earlier this month.

The idea of ​​creating these sculptures aims to remind Manchester City fans of the essential role that both Kompany and Silva played in achieving many championships, successes and achievements in one of the most historical stages in the club’s 127-year history.

For his part, His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Manchester City Football Club, said: “Fans who attended today’s match with Arsenal had the opportunity to see the statues up close for the first time, and I hope these beautiful sculptures will bring back their memories of the exceptional moments that these two stars have recorded over the past ten years. “.

He added: “Andy’s skill is to showcase the strength and resilience of David and Vincent through contemporary art techniques and his use of industrial materials, bringing his artworks into the style and essence of Manchester City. Work is underway on the Sergio Aguero statue and we look forward to honoring his legacy in the coming year, reminding future generations of the age of The City that these three men were an integral part of.”

On the occasion of the unveiling of the new statues at the Etihad Stadium, Andy Scott said: “I feel very happy to be involved in this special project, which means a lot to Manchester City fans, and makes them feel happy and proud of their favorite club.”
