A man with Alzheimer’s forgot he was married and asked his wife again after falling in love with her again.
Peter Marshall, 56, made the big request to Lisa Marshall one evening in December 2020 when the two were sitting glued to the couch, not realizing that they had already been united for 11 years, reports CNN.
Since being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s three years ago, Peter Marshall has increasingly lost his memory or often forgets that he is married.
Despite the memories he has lost, his love for his wife does not seem to have faded.
“He’s so kind, caring, loving, funny and romantic. He’s always been very passionate about our relationship and me, ”Lisa Marshall told CNN.
When her husband proposed to her, the woman agreed because she didn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to make fond memories with the one she loves.
“It was really touching. He fell in love with me twice. I feel honored. I feel like a princess, like Cinderella. I am the luckiest girl in the world, ”says the bride.
The couple therefore chose to renew their vows in April in an intimate family ceremony and with the help of a dementia specialist.
“Peter was awake and present all day. He was so happy. When he said his vows, he simply said to me: “Lisa, I love you”. And that’s all I needed, ”says Lisa Marshall.
The latter adds that she is happy that they can “be together until the end.” Nothing is going to separate us ”.
