“Section speed cameras will now always work on Flemish motorways and only the 129 km/h tolerance will apply. In Wallonia, the last four section controls with high tolerance margins will be adjusted in the coming weeks so that all tolerance margins on Belgian motorways are reduced to 129Km/h by the end of August. Flashing from 129 kilometers per hour will also become the norm when new cameras are activated,” said Edward Lantsheere, spokesman for Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne in De Zondag.
The pilot project, which began last October, was to determine whether police and prosecutors can handle the increased influx of cases. In places with allowances, the flash was only used at a speed of 141 or 147 kilometers per hour.
The police and prosecutors will have no problem with the increased influx of cases, assures the Ministry of Justice. “There have been recruitments in the regional processing centers of the federal police.
