Jimmy Kimmel hit Donald Trump on Friday as “a disgusting apology for a president,” accusing him of lighting the flames of protests that broke out after George Floyd’s death.
“Do you want to lead us?” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The presenter asked viewers when he scolded Trump’s reaction to Floyd’s death in Minneapolis on Monday.
Floyd, an unarmed black man, died after a white policeman knelt on his neck in a frightening incident that was held in front of the camera.
Trump had called the demonstrators “thugs” and threatened violent retaliation by troops. He warned on Twitter that “when the looting begins, the shootout begins.” Twitter has given the post a “Glorifying violence” warning. (Trump later claimed to refer to shooting in general, although the meaning of his original tweet is clear in context.)
“I don’t care what you are,” said Kimmel. “Right, left, Republican, Democrat. I cannot imagine that there are many of us who want that. “
“Enough is enough,” added the comedian. “We have to vote this guy out.”
