The English national football team achieved a historic victory over its German counterpart, and qualified for the quarter-finals of the European Nations Cup “Euro 2020”.
Ukraine also beat Sweden with a killer goal in extra time, to end their match 2-1.
The England national team is expected to face Ukraine on Saturday in Rome.
England won 2-0 in the round of 16 match, which was held at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday. It was England’s first victory over Germany in the knockout stages of any major tournament since 1966.
Raheem Sterling scored the first goal for his team in the 75th minute, and Harry Kane added the second goal in the 86th minute.
The match witnessed the brilliance of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who saved two goals from Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.
Before Kane scored his team’s second goal, veteran German Thomas Muller missed the opportunity to adjust the score in the 81st minute, after he was singled out by the England goalkeeper and hit the ball out of the net in a strange way.
As for the Ukraine-Sweden match, Artem Dubvik scored the winning goal for Ukraine in the last minutes of extra time, after the match ended in a positive tie.
Alexander Zinchenko scored Ukraine’s first goal in the 27th minute, but Emil Forsberg scored a goal for Sweden in the 43rd minute.
The Swedish national team completed the match with ten men, after its player Marcus Denilson was sent off for a foul in the first overtime period.
