The 67th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool in 2023. The second semi-final will be broadcast live on May 11 from 9 p.m. on eurovision.de, in the ARD media library and on ONE. Germany is not entitled to vote.
Ten of the 16 acts in the second semi-final qualify for the final on May 13. In addition to the participating semi-final countries, Spain and Great Britain as the so-called Big Five countries as well as Ukraine as the winning country in 2022 also cast their votes in the second semi.
Which country starts in which semi-final was drawn on January 31 in the so-called Allocation Draw in Liverpool. The starting order will be determined by the show’s producers based on dramaturgical aspects and was announced on March 22nd.
Interval acts in the second semi
Presented with “Music Unites Generations”. Maria Yaremchuk, the Ukrainian ESC participant from 2014 in Copenhagen, during the voting break in the second semi-final, the connection between generations of Ukrainians and the music they love. At the end of their journey through time, the rapper OTOY and the 14-year-old Ukrainian JESC participant Zlata Dziunka join in and want to show that music is the light that overcomes the darkness for generations of Ukrainians. With the performance “Be Who You Wanna Be”, three drag performers and several dancers symbolize that the ESC is there for everyone – regardless of age, nationality or background.
Tickets for the ESC shows in Liverpool
Ticket sales started on March 7th at 1 p.m. (CET). All nine ESC shows are sold out. Further ticket sales are currently not planned. Tickets were only available through Ticketmaster UK and cost between £30 and £290 for the semi-final shows and between £80 and £380 for the final shows. Advance tickets have been available since April 24th.
As every year, the EBU warns all fans not to buy tickets for the ESC shows on the black market or via anything other than the official online ticket platform. These cards are usually not only overpriced, but they could also be counterfeit and therefore not valid.
New rules for the ESC semi-finals
As of this year, the jury in the ESC semi-final shows will be abolished. Only the televoting should decide which acts will move into the final – ten from the first and ten from the second semi-final.
