Eurowings Discover plane descending over the Atlantic – cabin pressure drop! | news

Shock moment in a plane over the open sea!

A Eurowings Discover aircraft en route from the Dominican Republic to Germany had to make an emergency call over the Atlantic on Sunday morning – and then initiate an emergency descent. The reason for the action: The crew noticed a drop in pressure in the cabin at around 5 a.m.

A Eurowings Discover spokeswoman confirmed to BILD: “On the Eurowings Discover flight 4Y007 on Sunday morning on the flight from Puerto Plata to Frankfurt there was a loss of pressure in the cabin towards the end of the flight.” First had „t-online“ reported.

The Airbus A330 was off Ireland with 179 passengers. The airline spokeswoman said: “As planned in such situations, the flight crew initiated the descent and triggered the oxygen masks as a precaution.”

The plane dropped quickly from an altitude of over 12,000 meters: Six minutes later, the holiday plane flew at just 3,000 meters, then flew on – instead of to the destination airport in Frankfurt (Main) in the direction of Düsseldorf, where it landed at 6.50 a.m.

The change of target was prescribed by air traffic control after the plane had significantly changed the flight altitude.

The company said the passengers are fine. The spokeswoman told BILD: “All 179 passengers left the plane safely.”
