Lead 3-0 in the 35th minute of play and be scared to the end on the lawn of a candidate for maintenance. After a very convincing start to the season, Everton lost their status as surprise title contenders to finally fight for the top 6. Nothing was easy … until the end. Despite a three-goal lead in the 35th minute for the Toffees, after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s double (from the first seconds, on a bad opponent’s raise, then in the 29th minute on a cross from Lucas Digne) and the goal of ‘Abdoulaye Doucouré (35th, again on a service signed Digne), Carlo Ancelotti’s players have experienced great fears.

Bobby Reid’s goal in the quarter of an hour of play left an ounce of hope for the Cottagers, who played their luck by scoring again in the 70th by Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Just before, former Monaco player Ivan Cavaleiro missed a penalty.
It finally passes for Everton, who had not won in the league since October 3 against Brighton (4-2). Lucas Digne was one of the satisfactions of the day. The French side is at 15 caviars in the Premier League since joining the Toffees in August 2018, five more than any other French defender in the five big leagues on the same.
Everton are now sixth, ahead of their fine display against Leeds next Saturday. After a trip to Burnley, the Toffees will follow Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal et Manchester United. Fulham is 17th.
