Ex-FPÖ politician Jenewein is now also suing the courier

A lawsuit involving more than 30 articles published online and in print was dealt with at the Vienna Regional Court. At the beginning of August 2022, the “Kurier” reported “most intensively, even more than the ‘Krone’,” explained Jenewein’s legal representative Niki Haas. The media reports had no factual content for long stretches, nor did the alleged political reference to the alleged suicide attempt exist. Jenewein, who was questioned as a witness by judge Stefan Romstorfer, said: “I was never in an intensive care unit and never in mortal danger. I was allowed to sleep in. That was the only medical measure in the hospital.”

Postponed to the end of March

The former FPÖ member of the National Council emphasized that “the incident” had nothing to do with the fact that it had been reported in the days before that a complaint about the abuse of funding against the Viennese FPÖ had been found on him. Rather, he was taken to the hospital because a case of illness in the immediate family circle had affected him. This dramatic course of the disease and the temporal proximity to his own hospitalization could also be proven, said Jenewein.

The hearing was adjourned to the end of March in order to obtain and examine the relevant documents.
