The state is still working to develop all aspects of the health file. In this context, the Ministry of Health announced that it has examined 1.7 million women for early detection of diseases transmitted from the mother to the fetus, and provided free treatment and health care, as part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative to “care for the health of the mother and fetus” since its inception. The initiative was launched in March 2020 under the slogan “100 Million Health”.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, indicated that the initiative aims at early detection of HIV infection, HIV and syphilis for pregnant women, in addition to reducing maternal deaths resulting from these diseases. The initiative also includes following up the condition of the mother and newborn for 42 days. days after the end of pregnancy to discover the risk factors for the mother or the newborn, take the appropriate measures, and dispense the necessary micronutrients during the postpartum period.
He added that the initiative includes confidentiality of analyzes and proper testing by selecting reagents of international quality standards, as well as advice to prevent diseases, and requires approval and the woman’s acceptance of the service.
