The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, asked to take extreme security measures in the presence of the Brazilian variant in the country, after confirming the death of two of the people infected with the P.1 strain.
“We must mourn the death of two young compatriots, one in their 40s and the other in their 50s, who contracted the Brazilian variant,” said the national president while recalling that it is a much more aggressive and lethal variant.
Therefore, the head of state announced that they will evaluate new sanitary measures to prevent the spread of the Brazilian strain in Venezuelan territory, and asked to suspend all massive political activities, including a march that would commemorate International Women’s Day on April 8. March.
“All massive political activities are suspended,” said the national president while saying that he is confident that the massive vaccination, which began two weeks ago, will contribute to counteract the aggressiveness of this variant of the virus.
“We understand that there are some limitations in the manufacturing process of some vaccines, that is going to take us a bit. But we are confident that the vaccine for our Cuban brothers will soon be ready, “said Maduro, who has already confirmed the arrival of more doses of the Chinese vaccine and Sputnik V, from Russia.
Regarding the Brazilian variant, of which four cases had been confirmed in the country, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, confirmed that no more cases have been registered for now in the country.
