F1: Nigel Mansell releases Williams FW14, famous for “Senna Taxi”[F1-Gate .com]

Former F1 World Champion Nigel Mansell will put up the famous “Williams FW14” for “Senna Taxi” at auction.

Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna provided one of the classic scenes for F1 at the 1991 F1 British Grand Prix. He took pole position at home grand prix at an overwhelming speed, led all laps, won the fastest lap and won the race.

Meanwhile, Ailton Senor, who finished in 4th place, ran out of McLaren fuel on the final lap and stopped on the track. Nigel Mansell stopped on the course in the middle of the winning lap, and Ayrton Senna boarded it, making it a famous episort as “Senna Taxi”.

The chassis of the Williams FW14-5, which became the protagonist of this iconic moment, was sent to Nigel Mansell by the Williams F1 team at the end of the 1991 season.

The Williams FW14, which has been on display since then, will be auctioned in May through RM Sotheby’s in Monaco. The final price is unknown, but RM Sazabi estimates the value of the Williams FW14-5 to be between € 1,500,000 and € 3,000,000.

But that’s not the only “Munsell machine” in the Monaco auction.

The Ferrari 640, which won two wins in 1983, will also be auctioned. It is the machine that won the debut race of Nigel Mansell at Ferrari, and it is also the first machine that Ferrari is equipped with a semi-automatic gearbox.

This particular part of Ferrari’s history is expected to sell for € 2,500,000 to € 5,000,000.

Also on display will be Nigel Mansell’s 1991 Birkin 7 Sprint. According to RM Sotheby’s, Nigel Mansell is attached to the car and “is interested in handing it over to new owners in a personal one-on-one way.”

Nigel Mansell’s 1990 iC Modulo M89 and 2005 Reynard 2KI Grand Prix Masters Car will also be put up for auction.
