Faculty of Medicine boasts a digital training hospital, the Medical Simulation and Training Center – El Sol de la Laguna

Torreón, Coahuila.- After submitting his activity report for the last 12 months, the director Salvador Chavarría Vázquez commented that the Torreón Unit Faculty of Medicine has an increase in infrastructure, for which the plaque of the digital training hospital was unveiled on Medical Simulation and Training Center (CESAM).

He reported that the Faculty has 778 students, of whom 384 are men and 394 women; He pointed out that efforts were made before the CIFRHS Mexico to obtain the favorable academic technical opinion (OTAF), which was achieved with a favorable rating for the Medical Surgeon educational program, an essential requirement demanded by the Inter-institutional Committee for the Training of Human Resources in Health.

He pointed out that the Faculty of Medicine is currently undergoing an accreditation process that is being coordinated by Dr. Juan Manuel Carrillo, holding meetings every week with those in charge of the area, teachers and students, with the aim of achieving quality accreditation and en route towards excellence by the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of Medical Education.

Dr. Salvador Chavarría said that the Center for Biomedical Research is made up of 15 full-time professors and 100 percent have a Doctor of Science degree, 11 have the PRODEP profile, 13 belong to the National System of Researchers and 4 are new full-time professors; In addition, it had 18 publications in 2021 and in most of them postgraduate students and PTC from the Faculty of Medicine participated as co-authors.

Likewise, he pointed out that thanks to the outstanding participation in the Multicentric Implementation of the Basic Actions of Patient Safety project, the hospital achieved a rating of 97.7 in the evaluation; In another tenor, he commented that several spaces were remodeled, among them, two operating rooms with lamps and surgical beds and the area of ​​medical residences.

On the other hand, it reported that 22 nurses graduated from the Pediatric Nursing Post-Basic Course and an intramural campaign was carried out for all the women workers of the Hospital within the framework of the pink month of the fight against breast cancer and in December the campaign to fight HIV and AIDS, in which they applied 120 free tests to workers and the general public.
