For the first day of its virtual edition, the Batibouw construction fair experienced some computer problems that prevented visitors to this 2021 edition from discovering and discussing through cameras interposed with exhibitors.
Indeed, the connection to the showroom was difficult, when it was not simply impossible. In an insulating materials company, for example, it took a long time to get a customer: “We have been here since 9:30 am this morning and the first customer arrived at 3:30 pm“.

A registration problem
“You don’t have to pay for the stand or the food, but you have to spend a certain amount for the connection service. And for the few people we see today it’s quite expensive“, explains Nico Verbeeck, sales manager of the insulating materials company.
Still, everything looked simple with an online registration form that gives the visitor free access to the desired showroom. Depending on his interests, the program offers him brands with whom he can get in touch, by chat or videoconference. It was the registration system that posed a problem and gave Batibouw and his subcontractor company a hard time for this virtual edition.
by tomorrow morning everything would be settled
Hiccups were expected on this first day of this first virtual edition, but not as many. On the side of the organizer, we wipe the plasters: “Our subcontractor promised us that by tomorrow (Sunday) morning everything would be settled“, tries to reassure the organizer of the show, Frédéric François.
The construction fair is held until Sunday March 7 only on the internet due to the coronavirus epidemic. The organizers hope to attract some 150,000 visitors to experience the services of the nearly 200 registered exhibitors.
