Fans agree and disagree with Honda’s continued support for Red Bull F1 “F1 withdrawal is a fraud”[F1-Gate.com]

Honda withdrew from F1, and Red Bull’s support for F1 power units, that is, the news that production of F1 power units will continue until 2025 is pros and cons among overseas fans on SNS.

After Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen won the title in 2021, Honda withdrew from F1, declaring that it would “finish F1 activities”.

However, this year Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri are continuing the F1 power unit manufactured by Honda, and Honda announced that it will continue its support until 2025.

But not everyone reacted enthusiastically to the news.

F1 fans have largely criticized the engine development freeze. It was Red Bull’s wish to keep the engine running after Honda withdrew from F1.

However, fans are not happy with that rule, as it was originally planned to be run by Red Bull Powertrains and Honda has decided to keep it running until 2025.

Negative comments are:

“Honda and what they call ‘F1 exit’ is really frustrating.”

“In effect, Honda has not moved away from F1 at all.”

“I would like a friendly reminder that engine development is no longer allowed because Honda ‘pulled out’ and Red Bull threatened to pull out with them.”

“I thought the engine was frozen because Honda withdrew.”

“This is a big scam. Drop the engine freeze.”

“The Red Bull Powertrains project is a farce. Red Bull uses a Honda engine (which has gotten much better) and will continue to use it until 2025. Why Red Bull Powertrains when it’s a Honda PU? I don’t know if it’s labeled as

“Honda is not far away. It was Red Bull’s ruse to freeze engine regulations.”

“Honda left and Red Bull wanted time to catch up so they lobbied for an engine freeze. Why is Honda not leaving at all?”

But there are also positive fans. In their opinion, an engine freeze was what every manufacturer wanted, and that ‘development’ and ‘technical support’ are two different things.

“Honda provides technical support. This was already known. Honda didn’t want to continue developing the engine. The critics are the Mercedes fans. There is a difference between development and technical support. Don’t you understand?”

“The engine freeze was logical. The teams agreed to it. Red Bull did not make the rules and force them on other teams, for example under the guise of safety.”

“The difference between development and technical support is a fine line.”

“One way for skeptics to identify whether Honda is just providing technical support or actually doing development is to check the company’s financial disclosure report. The last thing I saw clearly showed that the difficulties they were experiencing on the commercial side far outweighed their interest and desire to remain in F1 as an engine supplier, thus destroying that aspect of the F1 business. So we moved the cash and the talent to where it was needed.”

“Honda has always been a ‘conservative’ company that only invests when it sees a solid return. In addition, they keep their technological development under their control and don’t give it to Porsche. you would want to be

“It has always been the case that Honda supports the maintenance of the power unit and this is only a confirmation of that contract. The team has agreed to support Red Bull by halting further development of the power unit. Maintenance and development is a different thing.”

“As people have mentioned, there is a very big difference between support and development.”

“Honda had announced their exit in 2020 before challenging Red Bull for the title. They don’t really do anything other than keep them, they do it just because the engines are theirs and Red Bull keeps using them.”
