Farmatodo workers in Puerto Ordaz protested low wages and elimination of benefits

They explained that they no longer have private transportation and the bonus is not a stable amount or a specific date.

Employees of the Farmatodo stores in Puerto Ordaz joined the protest that took place in all the countrydue to salary decreases and other benefits received.

Through a telephone contact with the workers of the store in Villa Granada, for example, they stated that 13 employees left their jobs due to discontent in the fortnights.

“They took away our transportation, the way to and from our home, we must pay 8 bolívares daily and it is more than what we generate fortnightly,” they said.

They detailed “there are fortnights that we get zero bolivars because the deductible that they took away from social security, HCM and other benefits left us at zero. On the 15th we only charged 60 bolívares and with the threat that if we were absent or late, they would take away the bonus”.

After noting that this extra bonus was not reflected in the Ticket Basket or in the payment list.

“We are tired of that because just as the bond does not have a stable amount, it does not have a specific date either… Meanwhile we are on the wane, borrowing to go to work and pay for tickets,” they said.

They demand a decent salary, “we no longer want fictitious bonuses, we have been in a company for 15 or 20 years, we have given it our youth, when are they going to calculate our benefits for us, it is nothing because the salary we have reflected in the list of payment is 100 bolivars”, they claimed.

Some walked away with a $500 settlement with 15 to 20 years of service.

Finally, they indicated that they require daily goals of 15 to 20 thousand dollars in sales per store, apart from a thousand transactions per day.

“They tell us that they cannot pay us a living wage because they do not have a budget,” they closed.
