Hockey striker Vladimír Růžička headed for Hradec Králové after leaving Sparta. He will play again under the guidance of his father Vladimír, who became the team’s only head coach at the beginning of April. Růžička, 31, has signed a two-year contract with Mountfield.
The experienced striker strengthened the ambitious club shortly after the announcement of the departure of one of the offensive tugs last season by Matěj Chalupa. The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract with Chicago in the NHL.
“We have been looking for a creative center for a long time, which would help us improve the power play, was strong at the puck, was successful at throwing and, of course, could score a goal. The government fulfills all this. We especially hope to improve power games and productivity, “said Aleš Kmoníček, general manager, for the website of the Hradec Králové club.
He admitted that the East Bohemians had been interested in Růžiček’s services for a long time. “We were in contact together last season, when he preferred to engage in Sparta, mainly for family reasons – because of small children. After a mutual agreement on the termination of the contract with Sparta, we started negotiating a possible cooperation, “said Kmoníček.

Růžička has been playing under his father for a long time in Slavia and Chomutov. Last year, after the descent of the Pirates, he headed from the north of Bohemia to the metropolis and concluded a multi-year contract with Sparta. Already after the first season, in which he scored 26 points for 10 goals and 16 assists in 39 matches, both parties agreed on an early termination of cooperation. The extra-league champion from 2008 should join the team in the new workplace during July.
Soon, the 57-year-old coach Růžička joined the Mountfield team on October 23. He created a pair with equivalent competencies on the exchange with Tomáš Martinec, who led East Bohemia before his arrival. Together they led the team to the finals of the Champions League. At the beginning of April, the club’s management decided to continue to give room only to the Olympic winner from Nagano, Martinec finished on the substitution.
