FBI Contradicts Alec Baldwin: Gunshot Killing Investigation Closed | entertainment

Did he really not pull the trigger? |

FBI contradicts Alec Baldwin

The FBI investigation is complete, the confusion continues.

It’s been almost ten months since a fatal shot was fired while filming the western “Rust”. The victim: camerawoman Halyna Hutchins († 42). Accused: Hollywood star Alec Baldwin (64). He was holding the gun when his setmate was accidentally killed with it.

According to Baldwin’s own statements, the momentous shot should have been released automatically. But forensic investigations have shown that this cannot be true.

According to the test results that „ABC News“ present, it is not possible that the weapon was fired without the trigger being pulled. But that’s exactly what Baldwin recently claimed.

The Killing Shot

A case is pending against Hollywood star Alec Baldwin on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter. On October 21, 2021, a gun shot was fired on the set of Rust at a movie ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Halyna Hutchins suffered fatal injuries.

Baldwin himself explained how, after lunch in a wooden church, he received the revolver from Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. At this point, the gun was actually “cold”, i.e. loaded with blank cartridges. But a real bullet hit the camerawoman.

In a TV interview in December, Alec Baldwin said he didn’t know how the live ammunition got into the gun. But above all: “I didn’t pull the trigger!”

Even after multiple shooting tests with the model in question – a .45 Colt revolver – the weapon “could not be made to fire without a trigger,” according to the FBI report. At least not when, how Baldwin himself claimed that he had only operated the hammer, i.e. the hammer of the weapon.

It remains to be seen whether the result will change anything in the case. It must also be clarified whether the weapon may have malfunctioned and therefore fired without the trigger being pulled. In addition, it is still not clear why there were real cartridges in the prop revolver.

The latest findings have been forwarded to the Santa Fe sheriff’s office. It also remains to be seen what will come out of the search of Baldwin’s private cell phone.

Many unanswered questions that will hopefully be clarified soon.
