FC Seoul wins 3-1 over Jeju… FA Cup Quarterfinals for the first time in 2 years

Professional soccer K League 1 FC Seoul defeated Jeju United and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Korea Football Association (FA) Cup.

Seoul conceded a goal first to Ju Min-gyu in the 4th round (round of 16) of the Hana One Q FA Cup held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, but in the second half, Palosevich’s multi-goal and Cho Young-wook’s one goal helped them come back 3-1 over Jeju.

Seoul, which won the FA Cup twice in 1998 and 2015, advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time in two years since 2020 (elimination of the quarterfinals).

In particular, Seoul lost all three matches to Jeju in the K-League 1 last season, and lost 2-1 in the first match of the year on March 19 with this victory.

In an underwater game with heavy rain, Jeju goalkeeper Joo Min-gyu, who was the top scorer in the K League 1 last season, scored the opening goal in the 23rd minute of the first half.

Jumin-kyu, who received Jungwoon’s long ball from the left side of the penalty area, shook the net with a left-footed shot that calmly avoided Seoul goalkeeper Yang Hanbin.

In the first half, Seoul could not easily break through Jeju’s strong defensive wall, and in the second half, captain Ki Seong-yong, who was waiting on the bench, replaced Jo Ji-hoon, and searched for a way out in the midfield.

In the second minute of the second half, after receiving a pass from Ki Sung-yong, Seoul continued the offensive, with a left-footed shot from the right side of the penalty area hit the post, but Seoul turned the tide in an instant.

In the 9th minute of the second half, after Kang Seong-jin’s cross and Jo Young-wook’s header shot was blocked by Jeju keeper Kim Dong-jun, Palosevich pushed in and scored the equalizer.

Two minutes later, Young-wook Cho exquisitely controlled the ball floated by Kang Sung-jin from the right side of the penalty area, and then scored a left footed shot to come back.

Seoul’s momentum rose in the 32nd minute of the second half, and Palošević finished in front of the goal after Kim Jin-ya’s cutback and scored an additional goal to put the tie into the game.
