Fernando Alonso (Alpine F1) finished the final of the 2022 F1 Japan GP in 8th place.

“Today was fun, but it was a very chaotic race and I’m glad we finally put on a show for the fans. We scored some good points, but I think we could have scored more. Wet conditions, safety. Car, it was a difficult race with red flags,” commented Fernando Alonso.

“There were also some incidents that I am sure will be reviewed to improve for the future.”

“Finally, congratulations to Max[Verstappen]on winning the championship. Overall I think he deserves a lot and I hope we can compete with him a lot more next year!”

Team-mate Esteban Ocon held off Lewis Hamilton to finish fourth, his best of the season.

“Finishing in fourth place is a great result for us, especially in these conditions. It was a difficult start with poor visibility in the rain, so we had to concentrate to get through the early laps.” Esteban Ocon commented.

“It’s nice to be able to race and reward the fans for their support all weekend. Racing with Lewis[Hamilton]is always fun and I had to drive with my mirrors the whole time.”

“Congratulations to Max on winning the World Championship. He dominated every race and drove great and deserves it. Come back in fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship and leave Japan with a lot of points. can
