TS Laevad has planned maintenance work for two ferries at the dock for 2024, the first of which has already taken place, and major paint and maintenance work on the Saaremaa line ferry Tõllu was done in the spring.

At the end of September, the sequel is in the hands of the ferry Leiger. From September 23, the ferry Regula will replace Leigrit on the Hiiumaa route for a few weeks. Understandably, this may cause some inconvenience to passengers, but the TS Ships team has planned the most optimal time window for these works, and despite the maintenance work, no one will be left without being taken to the island.

According to Guldar Kivro, member of TS Laevade’s shipping department and board member, maintenance work similar to that of Tõllu will be carried out on Leigri. “Our ferries are obliged to dock at least twice in five years, and the time between two docks cannot be longer than three years. For example, one thing that can only be done in a dry dock is the painting of the hull, and in addition to other works, the Leigri hull and car deck get a new coat of paint at the BLRT ship repair plant in Tallinn. Salty water and constant use leave a good mark in three years,” explains Kivro behind the dock works.

“Most of the departures are made by the ferry Tiiu, the ticket sales system also shows which ship departs at each departure – Tiiu is marked in red and Regula in blue. If you want to travel with Tiia or Regula, you can plan your trip accordingly, but the crossing with Regula is about as fast as with the main ship, and it is probably interesting to travel to Hiiumaa with a more nostalgic ship for a change. In addition, there is an exceptional opportunity to view Leigri in the repair factory in Paljassaari from the coastline of the Rocca al Mare area in Tallinn or from the Estonian Open Air Museum,” adds Kivro.
