Some players’ agents, Hossam Ashour, offered Al-Ahly captain to Zamalek officials, after his departure from Al-Ahmar was confirmed by the end of the season.
FilGoal.com learned that Ashour’s name was brought up by some agents, without a decision being taken by the Zamalek administration.
The agents are awaiting Mortada Mansour, the head of Zamalek, and agreeing to it, in coordination with coach Patrice Carteron, the team’s coach, to enter into direct negotiations with Ashour, whose contract with Al-Ahly ends at the end of the season.
FilGoal.com contacted a source close to Al-Ahly captain, as the source confirmed the existence of these informal discussions from Zamalek, along with offers from other clubs.
But the source confirmed: “Ashour has not decided his position yet, whether by retiring or continuing in the stadiums for another year.”
Hossam Ashour has been playing with the first team in Al-Ahly club since 2003 and has continued until now.
The 34-year-old won 35 titles in his career with Al-Ahly, making him the most culminating in the club’s history.
Al-Ahly had announced earlier its desire not to renew Ashour’s contract and wished to retire within the club’s walls and expressed its willingness to hold an isolation match worthy of his name and history despite the administration’s decision to stop holding retirement matches for players.
Al-Ahly has also revealed its agreement to bear the costs of any pensions or studies that Husam Ashour requests to take out of the country to prepare him to be a future administrative or technical cadre for the club.
