Exceptions are: pregnant women, people who cannot be vaccinated without endangering life or health, those who have recovered for a period of 180 days from the date of sampling and people under 14 years of age.
The reasons for the exception must be proven by a medical certificate. The confirmation of a contract doctor or a contract group practice for general medicine, for an internal specialty, for psychiatry, for skin and venereal diseases, for gynecology or for paediatrics or an official medical confirmation are recognized.
The vaccines from BioNtech / Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson are recognized.
Anyone who does not have a vaccination after March 15, 2022 can be punished. The fine can be up to 600 euros and is due again every three months. However, the Minister of Health can also define groups of people who have to pay a lower fine by ordinance. For this, the income and financial circumstances of the persons concerned should be decisive.
Every three months, people who have not complied with the mandatory vaccination should be informed by letter that the vaccination must be made up by the next deadline. Unvaccinated people should receive the first letter by February 15.
The money raised from the fines will go to the local hospitals.
It is expressly made clear that the vaccination must not be enforced by force. If the request to undergo a vaccination is not complied with, this is considered an administrative offense.
“In the coming days, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Constitution will work intensively with the involvement of the opposition parties SPÖ and NEOS and consider proposals within the framework of a legislative proposal,” said the Ministry of Health. According to this, the draft law is to be sent for assessment in the course of the coming week.
