Five plaintiffs sue Bill Cosby and NBCUniversal

This latest trial comes more than a year after Bill Cosby was released from prison after reversal of the guilty verdict for sexual assault in 2018 in Pennsylvania.

Earlier this year, a Los Angeles jury granted 500,000 US dollars to a woman which stated that Bill Cosby sexually assaulted her in the Playboy Mansion when she was a teenager in 1975.

The lawsuit filed Monday under New York state’s one-year deadline – for adults to file sexual assault complaints – involves plaintiffs Lili Bernard, Eden Tirl, Jewel Gittens, Jennifer Thompson and Cindra Ladd .

Facts dating back to the 1960s

The lawsuit alleges that each of these women was abused or assaulted by the popular actor after meeting on set or in other artistic circumstances, from the late 1960s through the 1990s.

It was well known that Bill Cosby regularly took young women to his dressing room, and when you read the complaint you will see that in some cases studio staff saw this happen and even encouraged the complainant to submit.said attorney Jordan Rutsky, who represents the five women.

The lawsuit alleges that NBCUniversal, which aired The Cosby Show from 1984 to 1992, as well as Kaufman Astoria and Carsey-Werner Television studios facilitated the sexual assault of women by not verifying the power and inclinations of Bill Cosby, and by not preventing women from being alone with him, because these companies profited from his work.

In at least some of the cases, according to the prosecution, Bill Cosby first drugged his victim with drinks or pills.
