An assist with a fall from Erick Pulgar gave Flamengo the victory and almost qualified in the Copa Libertadores. It was a Chilean duel against Racing.
Flamengo defeated qualifier 2-1 Racing Club at the Maracaná stadium, a Chilean duel for the fifth date of Group A of the Copa Libertadores 2023. The result virtually puts the Brazilian team in the next phase of the competition, to the detriment of Ñublense.
Eric Thumb He was once again a starter and figure in the black team led by Jorge Sampaoli (he played 90′), while Arturo Vidal came on from the bench at 88′. In Racing, Gabriel Arias started in the goal and Óscar Opazo was again out of the call.
Wesley opened the score for Flamengo by beating Arias at 35′, this after Gerson’s qualification in a play that Pulgar started by recovering the ball from his own area. But victory would not come easy for Mengao.
In the second half, Matías Rojas equalized for Racing at 48′. And at 82′ Victor Hugo returned the advantage to the locals thanks to the assistance of Erick Pulgar.

The Chilean took the ball in three quarters of the field, and forged a wall that did not find him comfortable in the reception, but falling down he managed to put his foot in to enable the author of the goal of Flamengo’s important victory.
Thanks to the victory, Flamengo has 8 points in second place. Racing is first despite the defeat with 10 units. Ñublense is third with 5 and must fight for his option to continue in the race or secure at least the Copa Sudamericana. Aucas is fourth with 4 positives.
For the last date of the group, Wednesday June 28, Racing receives Ñublense and Flamengo will be local against Aucas. Pulgar, Vidal and Arias join the Chilean team for the friendlies against Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Bolivia.
