Inter Milan missed the chance to take second place in Serie A from AC Milan by losing at home to Empoli (0-1), trapped in a second half disputed with ten after the exclusion of Milan Skriniar, Monday during the 19th day.

Young leader Tommaso Baldanzi (19) took advantage of the numerical superiority of the Tuscans with a dry shot from the left foot which went under the belly of André Onana (66th). Empoli (9th) took the opportunity to pass Juventus, 10th after his fifteen-point penalty imposed on Friday by sports justice in the case of overvalued capital gains.

13 points behind Napoli

Inter (3rd) sees for its part growing further behind the leader Naples, leader that the Nerazzurri are however the only ones to have beaten this season, at the beginning of January (1-0): the abyss is now 13 points mid-league.

The Nerazzurri got into trouble with the logical expulsion before the break of Milan Skriniar for two warnings, one for an obstruction (25th), the other for a foot too high (40th).

A dark evening for the Slovak central defender, whose future is at the heart of all questions these days: at the end of the contract in June, he is given the start for Paris-SG by the press, perhaps even here on January 31.

Everything for the attack

After the Tuscans opened the scoring, Simone Inzaghi threw all her offensive forces into battle by bringing in Edin Dzeko and then Romelu Lukaku, but to no avail, despite several hot situations and a header on the bar.

Less than a week after lifting the Italian Super Cup in style against AC Milan (3-0), Inter may have said goodbye to the scudetto.

The 19th day ends on Tuesday with the displacement of AC Milan, 2nd at twelve points from Naples, on the ground of Lazio (6th) in Rome.

La Cremonese remain without a win

In the other match on Monday, the Cremonese, held in check 1-1 in Bologna, still have no victory this season in Serie A.

The US Cremonese however opened the scoring on a penalty converted by Nigerian striker David Okereke (55th). But the team trained for a week by Davide Ballardini to replace Massimiliano Alvini, sacked for lack of results, only led five minutes, the time for Vlad Chirches to score against his camp for the host team.
