Real Sociedad and Villarreal, winners respectively of Betis Sevilla (3-0) and Valencia (2-1) on Sunday, took the lead in the Spanish league at the end of the 6th day marked by the defeats of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona on Saturday. With eleven points on the clock, the two new leaders are one length ahead of Real Madrid, Getafe, Cadiz and Granada. Real, Getafe and Granada, however, have one game less.
Barça, beaten 1-0 in Getafe, is ninth with seven points, but with two games late to play, just behind Atlético Madrid (8th, 8 pts) who, also with two games less, was well revived by going to win at Celta Vigo (2-0) on Saturday. Real Madrid suffered a snub at home – their first defeat of the season – against promoted Cadiz (1-0) and Granada won at home 1-0 against Sevilla (10th).
Sunday Real Sociedad clearly won in Seville on Betis (7th, 9 pts), thanks to three goals from Portu, on a center from the left of Mikel Oyarzabal (44th), a penalty from the same Oyarzabal (73rd ) and finally a strong strike under the bar of the Belgian Adnan Januzaj (88th). For his part, Villarreal scored by Paco Alcacer from the penalty spot (6th) and Daniel Parejo (69th), which was decisive against his former club Valencia (37th).
