This marriage is broken. PSG and Neymar are not happy anymore. An early separation is possible, but the financial hurdles are huge.

There is a huge crisis between PSG and Neymar. While the Brazilian feels attacked by the president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi is bothered by the appearances of his 222 million transfer from 2017. The world star has regularly disappeared this season, especially in the Champions League – goalless in six games. The Brazilian falls far short of expectations – not on the pitch, not off the pitch. The bosses want to get rid of Neymar and have told him so.

But this is not so easy. Neymar’s pride doesn’t allow such a simple farewell. He signed a new contract with the French until 2025 a year ago, which includes an extension clause until 2027, which comes into effect on Friday. So the club is under time pressure. If, despite Neymar’s no, there is still a divorce, it would be expensive – very expensive. The Brazilian’s dad, who also works as an agent, formulated and placed the Neymar side’s demand. It reads: only if the club settles the liabilities resulting from the contract in the amount of around 200 million francs would one be willing to think about a farewell.

However, the club bosses are apparently also working on a plan B – on a loan deal in which the French champions would pay part of the salary (40 million francs net per year). The 30-year-old is said to be dreaming of a return to FC Barcelona. Already from 2013-2017 he appeared in the dress of the Spanish top club. (nab)
