For femicide and use of a false passport: This Thursday they will formalize the alleged murderer of María Isabel Pavez
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Mexican Carlos Méndez González had entered Chile in 2009 under the name of Igor Yaroslav González. He risks a penalty ranging from 15 years and one day to qualified perpetual imprisonment.
After being arrested in Valparaíso inside a hostel during the afternoon of this Wednesday, the deputy prosecutor of the local Florida Prosecutor’s Office, Marjorie carrillo, reported that the alleged femicide and the only suspect in the crime of the young Maria Isabel Pavez, Carlos Méndez, will be formalized this Thursday.
The crimes that will be imputed to the citizen of Mexican origin are those of femicide and use of a false passport.
The representative of the Public Ministry explained that “The accused was finally identified as Carlos Humberto Méndez González, since he had entered Chile in 2009 with the false identity of Igor Yaroslav González González.”
The persecutor also maintained that the capture took place around 6:50 p.m. in a pension on the Polanco hill thanks to an investigative work by the PDI Homicide Brigade “after carrying out many procedures.”
The defendant risks a penalty ranging from 15 years and one day to qualified perpetual imprisonment.
It should be remembered that the 22-year-old victim was from the commune of La Florida (RM) and was working as an obstetric student at Diego Portales University. His death occurred on September 23, and his body was found in the apartment where the suspect lived in the center of the capital a week after his disappearance.
