For non-essential travel, an extended measure despite European concerns

En two sentences or barely more, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo announced the extension of the ban on non-essential travel. Belgians can (for now) forget the Easter holidays in the mountains. Until April 18, it will be forbidden to leave the country for anything other than professional reasons, related to studies or even pressing family reasons. At the origin of this extension, border controls deemed insufficient.

A reassessment of the measure is scheduled for the next consultation committee, on March 26. A cooperation agreement to transfer the necessary data to the competent authorities will be discussed to allow checks. It is therefore not totally excluded that the date of April 18 will be changed in the coming weeks.
