After the discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamun, his mummy underwent scientific studies, the most important of which was a CT scan in 2005 in the Royal Mummies Examination Project of the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, which was established by the Egyptologist Dr. Sahar Selim, an expert in mummy x-rays, examined 40 royal mummies, including the mummy of King Tutankhamun.
The advanced x-rays were able to make several clips that Dr. Sahar installed to obtain two- and three-dimensional images that give a lot of information about the mummy, such as age at death, gender, health status, method of embalming and face shape, and Dr. Sahar Selim participated in designing the museum display in the Royal Mummies Hall in the Museum Fustat civilization.
On the occasion of the centenary of the archaeological discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamun, which is the most important in the world, Dr. Sahar Selim led a scientific project to reconstruct the face of the mummy of the golden King Tutankhamun, using radiology techniques and computed tomography of the skull of the mummy of King Tut. And Dr. Sahar Selim chose the members of her scientific team, which consisted of an anthropologist from the Canadian University of Western Ontario, Dr. Andrew Nelson has also hired Canadian sculptor specialist Christian Courbet.
Dr. Sahar Selim explained, in exclusive statements to “The Seventh Day”, that the three-dimensional model of King Tutankhamun’s skull was printed using artificial intelligence, and then facial muscles were built on the model using the proportions of Egyptian faces, and the result of the scientific project to restore the king’s face was amazing, as King Tutankhamun, with his noble Egyptian features, has been reincarnated to the world after more than 3,000 years, and he is wearing the battle royale crown.
And Dr. Sahar Selim added, this result in reconstructing the face of King Tutankhamun is the most accurate scientifically, as this project relied on constructing the face of the king on measurements of Egyptian faces, unlike previous attempts in which he used measurements of faces of non-Egyptian peoples, and the scientific project was documented to reconstruct The face of King Tutankhamun in a documentary film for the “Soura” company, directed by Egyptian director Hossam Abul-Magd, and broadcast by the channel PBS America on November 23.
