Foreign literature will be enriched with 153 new translations for this winter season. Latin Americans are making a comeback, especially Argentines.
The headliner of this winter will undoubtedly be the master of Nordic thriller, the Icelandic Arnaldur Indridason, with the translation by Métailié of The Stone of remorse, third novel in the Konrad series, started with What the night knew.
But it is the Latin Americans who are making a comeback, especially the Argentines. Samanta Schweblin will offer us on January 14, at Gallimard, a dark and fantastic novel, Kentucky, with her strange universe, comparable to that of her compatriot Mariana Enriquez. As for Claudia Pineiro, born in 1960 in Buenos Aires, she will introduce us The Curses, at Actes Sud.
However, it is Camila Sosa Villada who risks stealing the show, with an autobiographical-inspired novel recounting her tribulations as a transsexual in the slums of the Argentine capital.
