Former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat has decided to make his NASCAR Cup debut next weekend on the Indianapolis road course with Team Hezeberg.

Daniil Kvyat will be competing in three races with team Hezemans, a Dutch team founded by touring car legend Toine Hezemans and partner Ernst Berg.

Loris Hesemance takes over the # 27 Ford Mustang driven by Jack Villeneuve at the Daytona 500, and Daniil Kvyat takes control of the team’s # 26 car at the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard on the Rye weekend.

The rest of Daniil Kvyat’s participation is scheduled for the Watkins Glen road course on August 21st and the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course on October 9th.

“I’m very happy to be able to make our NASCAR Cup Series debut in Indianapolis,” commented Daniil Kvyat.

“I’ve always been passionate about racing at NASCAR, America’s top motorsport. NASCAR is pure motorsport and has always been intriguing.”

“I look forward to success in such motorsports and hope to compete for victory and championship in the future.”

“I can’t thank NASCAR, Josh Reaume, Toin Hezemans, Ernst Berg, and Team Hezeberg for giving me this opportunity.”

“The shop staff has worked tirelessly to prepare the machine and me for this experience.”

“It’s my first time in Indianapolis. I’m looking forward to seeing you in person. As you can see in the video, Indianapolis is a challenging circuit, but I’m looking forward to the challenge and the competition in the NASCAR Cup Series.”

Daniil Kvyat, who has participated in the 110 Grand Prix in F1, will be the last to participate in F1 at Scuderia AlphaTauri in 2020. He was a reserve driver for the Alpine F1 Team last year.

This year, Daniil Kvyat was scheduled to participate in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) from Russia’s LMP2 team G-Drive.

However, G-Drive team boss and driver Roman Rusinov refused to sign the “Driver Commitment” pledge mandated by the FIA (International Automobile Federation) following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The team was banned from participating in the WEC.
