A naturalist activist has filed a complaint for acts of cruelty on an animal after the broadcast, on social networks, of a video which he considers shocking.
The child awkwardly tries to finish off the animal.
The images, widely shared on social networks since the beginning of the week, are controversial. Filmed during a hunting trip in the Marne (northern France), they show a boar immobilized on the ground by dogs. Knife in hand, a child then awkwardly approaches the animal, encouraged by his father: “Don’t be afraid, hurry up quickly! (…) Sting it in the heart”, he throws at her. “He will somehow push the knife several times into the body of the boar, in the middle of the dogs, stumbling elsewhere, with the boar howling”, describes Pierre Rigaux.
The ecologist and naturalist made the buzz by sharing this video, originally published by a hunter at the end of November. “The video ends when the boar is not yet dead and the child is still holding the knife. We don’t know what happens after, but we already see part of the agony which is very long, ”explains the Frenchman. Shocked by the violence of these images, the ecologist mainly denounces the involvement of a child. “What is even more shocking is that the child is very young, that he does not really want to go there and that there is a physical risk for him”, denounces Pierre Rigaux.
“You are fragile”
Man sued for animal cruelty, reports France 3. “This is not a complaint against hunting. It is a complaint against the abuses of hunting”, specifies the activist, who adds that “if you do that on a dog, it is several years in prison”. On social networks, outraged reactions flared up, but some hunters came to the defense of the father of the child. “We are educating our child, it’s real life, you are fragile,” said one of them. According to Pierre Rigaux, however, some members of the profession “say that there is a problem, because the child is too young, because it is dangerous for him”.
Asked by France 3, the Marne hunting federation had not yet reacted on Wednesday.
