France makes condoms free for 18 to 25-year-olds to prevent unintended pregnancy

Paris: France to provide free condoms to 18-25-year-olds from now on to prevent unintended pregnancy. French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the health care of young people is the target. Free condoms are available from pharmacies. He added that the move is to bring a small revolution to the method of contraception.

In 2020 and 2021, sexually transmitted diseases increased by 30 percent in France. The aim is to reduce sexually transmitted diseases and make contraception more accessible. From 2018, the government started refunding the amount spent on condoms purchased with a doctor’s prescription to individuals.

Contraceptives were made free for women up to the age of 26 from the beginning of this year. Tests for diseases other than HIV can also be done without a doctor’s prescription. People below 26 years of age can be tested like this.
