France requests the return of Iran and Venezuela to the oil market

Today, an official in the French presidency confirmed that France wants Iran and Venezuela, which are under the weight of international sanctions, to return to the oil markets, to alleviate the shortage of energy supplies from Russia, which has caused prices to rise.

France also wants any mechanism planned for capping oil prices to be as broad as possible, and not limited to Russian production.

The French official added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the leaders of the Group of Seven major industrial countries this morning that the conditions were not conducive to negotiations with Russia, and that he wanted to be in a “strong position” before starting any negotiations.
