Twice gold, one silver and one bronze – that is the remarkable result of the youth department of the Union Compact Freistadt at the Austrian fistball championships in the age groups U16 and U18. As a result, teams from the Union Compact Freistadt ended up in the medal ranks for both female and male juniors.
The boys’ U18 team presented itself particularly impressively, after double gold at the U18 national championships, they now also brought the state championship title to the brewing city. The U16 girls also returned home to the Mühlviertel draped in gold. They were able to take revenge after winning silver at the state championships, making them the best U16 fistball team in Austria.
The U16 boys were able to confirm their silver medal from the state championship. They also finished second at the federal level. The U18 girls initially found it difficult to shake off their nervousness about their first appearance at a major indoor event, but they also confirmed their strength in fistball with bronze.
“As the person responsible for fistball at Union Freistadt, I am very proud of our youth and youth work. With the potential of our youngsters, we don’t need to fear for Freistadt’s top fistball,” section head Wolfgang Aichberger draws a satisfied balance of a sensational indoor season 2022/23 in every respect, which was crowned by the state championship title of the men’s team at the beginning of March.
