Indeed, it will be 1806.16 euros gross from April 1, indicate Wednesday the social partners gathered within the National Council of Labor (CNT).
Due to inflation, this amount is higher than what unions and employers agreed to last year. There was then talk of an increase to 1,700 euros per month.
This increase is the result of the social agreement which the unions and employers of the Group of 10 reached last June. Among other things, they had agreed on an increase in the Guaranteed Average Monthly Minimum Income (RMMMG).
In a first phase, the minimum wage must increase by 76.28 euros gross this year, in April, to 1,702 euros per month.
But, the amount will be higher due to the various indexations “since the pivot index has been exceeded three times since the date of signature of this agreement”.
In a collective labor agreement signed on Wednesday, the amount, including the additional increase, was adjusted on April 1 to take these overruns into account. “As an example, the amount of guaranteed average monthly minimum income is increased to 1,806.16 euros,” according to the CNT. The February consumer price index was taken into account.
In 2021, the social partners have agreed on an increase in the minimum wage in four phases. In two later phases (April 2024 and 2026), 35 euros gross will be added each time. A fourth stage is planned for an increase in the minimum wage. It will be possible from April 2028, provided it is in line with neighboring countries and subject to possible compensation for employers.
