Half of the regular season 2022/23 in the NHL has been completed. As usual, ice hockey fans can experience how the race for the top spots or playoff participation continues live on Sky. By the end of January, Sky will be broadcasting a total of 21 NHL matches live. The highlights include five prime-time games.
NHL fans in Austria can already look forward to a prime-time ice hockey evening on Monday, when there is a face-off at 7:00 p.m. at the Boston Bruins game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The main evening program continues on January 21 with a top game live on Sky Sport Austria 1. The Calgary Flames will then host the Tampa Bay Lightning. The next highlight is on the program on Sunday, January 22, when the New Jersey Devils meet the Pittsburgh Penguins at 8:00 p.m. Sky viewers can also see this game live on Sky Sport Austria 1. The following week, on Saturday, January 28th, defending champion Colorado Avalanche will be in action. The 2022 Stanley Cup winner wants to win the home game against the St. Louis Blues from 9:00 p.m. Sky customers can also follow Sky Sport Austria 1 to see whether this is successful.
In addition to the daily live broadcasts, Sky provides fans with everything they need to know and see from the league in the daily highlight magazine “NHL On the Fly”.
The NHL 2022/23 on Sky
Sky is the home of the NHL on Austrian television and will again be broadcasting around 300 games per season live this season. As a rule, Sky shows at least one game per day live. At the weekend also some prime-time games for the Austrian audience. All games are broadcast with the original English commentary. In addition, selected games, which also include games from NHL Saturday and NHL Sunday as well as the Stanley Cup Playoffs, are accompanied by German commentary.
The NHL games on Sky are commented on by Olivier Zwartyes, Marcel Meinert, Franz Büchner and Christoph Stadtler. Christian Rupp, stadium announcer for the Nuremberg Ice Tigers, has been expanding the commentary team since this season. Patrick Ehelechner, Julia Zorn and Patrick Köppchen are regularly used as experts.
