The countries of the “collective West” are trying to demonstrate unity against the backdrop of the growing activity of China. During a working dinner, the G7 foreign ministers called on China to take greater responsibility in its actions. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The official statement of the Japanese diplomatic department claims that Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi is concerned about China’s actions and calls on it to be a “responsible member of the world community”, that is, an obedient executor of the initiatives of the “collective West”, probably.
The head of the Japanese Foreign Ministry also spoke about the importance of building constructive relations with China. The question of the situation around the island of Taiwan, as well as the launch of ballistic missiles by the DPRK, was also raised at the meeting.
The US is insisting that the G7 countries be ready for joint action against China in case it launches any economic pressure on the G7. We can talk about raising tariffs, for example. Now this issue is already being discussed by the American administration and Congress.
More active attention to China in recent years may be due, according to a number of Western analysts, to the worsening situation in Ukraine and the US administration’s attempt to switch to the Asian direction in this regard.
