Gabri Garcia takes the helm of Olot until the end of the season, replacing Raúl Garrido. A renowned former professional player and former coach of Andorra and Barça youth, his mission is to reverse the sporting situation of the first team. Gabri, who will be conducting his first session tomorrow, will be presented next at noon at the Municipal Stadium.
Gabriel Garcia de la Torre (Sallent, 10-02-1979) will be the new coach of the first team of the Unió Esportiva Olot. The Bages coach began his career on the bench as an assistant at FC Barcelona B, precisely the last rival of Raúl Garrido. In 2015 he took over the reins of Barça’s Juvenil A and two years later lived an adventure abroad in the ranks of FC Sion (Switzerland). In December 2018 he signed for Gerard Piqué’s Andorra, then in Primera Catalana. He was promoted to the Third Division and had direct access to the Second B, where he led the Andorran team for half a season until he was dismissed.
As a player, Gabri is especially remembered for his time at FC Barcelona with almost 130 games in the first team after training at La Masia in a prodigious match with Xavi, Puyol, Mario Rosas and company. At the state level, he was international in the lower categories and also made his debut with the national team. He also played for Amsterdam’s Ajax, Qatar’s Umm-Salal and Switzerland for FC Sion and Lausanne-Sport before hanging up his boots.
