Dhe Oscar winners George Clooney (59) and Bob Dylan (79) want to bring the John Grisham bestseller “Calico Joe” to the screen as producers. Clooney will also direct, the industry papers reported “Hollywood Reporter” and “Variety” on Thursday. The 2012 novel with the German title “Home Run” revolves around a family drama with fraud, tragedy and forgiveness against the backdrop of professional baseball.
“John wrote a beautiful story and the opportunity to bring it to the screen with Bob is just fantastic,” said Clooney and his production partner Grant Heslov. “George and Grant see in this book what I see in it – a moving story that will please young and old alike,” the industry papers quoted from a message from singer Bob Dylan.
Clooney and Heslov have made numerous films together, including Argo, August in Osage County, and Monuments Men.
