Germán Tovar, renowned actor of 'I am Betty, the ugly one', died – Cinema and Tv

A loss for television represents the death of Germán Tovar, recognized for being in the novel ‘I am Betty, the ugly one’. Several Colombians remember him for his picturesque role as a lawyer along with César Mora, both in the fictional story had been hired by ‘Betty’ and ‘Nicolás’ in order to represent the interests of the ‘Terramoda’ company against ‘ Ecomoda’, by ‘Armando Mendoza’.

One of the most viewed scenes throughout the novel had Tovar as a participant. The famous meeting of ‘Ecomoda’, in which the story of ‘Betty’ took a turn, since she gave up staying with the organization of her former boss ‘Armando’ after the revelations of embezzlement and makeup of financial reports.

In addition to the novel created by the late screenwriter Fernando Gaitán, Tovar was part of ‘Oki Doki’, ‘Married with Children’, ‘Emergency Room’, among others. At the age of 72, he died this Friday, January 20, according to the Colombian Association of Actors.

“Our dear colleague and friend Germán Tovar Celeíta left, a great companion, member of ACA since its foundation, who gave us his support in the communications secretariat with commitment and dedication,” they said.

They also sent a supportive hug to his wife Lucía and their two daughters. The causes of his death are unknown.

Immediately, Natalia Ramírez (‘Marcela Valencia’ in ‘Betty’) said on social networks: “May she rest in peace”. The actors and actresses Katherine Vélez, Cristina Campuzano, Susana Torres, Bernardo García and Julián Román joined the messages of condolences.
