Today, October 10, research company IDC reportedthat global shipments of personal computers (PCs) in the third quarter amounted to 74.3 million units. This is 15% less than a year earlier. At the same time, IDC notes that shipments in the third quarter still remain higher than before the pandemic, when sales were stimulated by technology updates before the end of support for Windows 7.
“Consumer demand remains modest, although the marketing activity of many large companies, such as Apple, helped cushion the fall,” said Jitesh Ubrani, research manager at IDC. PC shipments in the third quarter decreased in all five of the largest vendors in the world, except for Apple (+40%), which occupies the 4th place in the world in terms of market share (13.5%).
At the world leader of the PC market, Lenovo company (a market share of 22.7%), deliveries in the third quarter were reduced by 16.1%, at HP going on the 2nd place (a share of 17.1%) — by 27.8%, Dell (share 16.1%) – by 21.2%, Asus (share 7.5%) – by 7.8%. For other manufacturers with a total market share of 23%, supplies decreased by a total of 19.4%.
