Mattannur: An attempt was made to smuggle gold by wearing jeans with gold alloy. The latest method of smuggling gold was discovered by customs at Kannur International Airport. Shihab, a passenger on an Air India Express flight from Dubai, was caught with 302 grams of gold worth Rs 15 lakh on Sunday night.

The gold mixture in the form of a paste was smeared on the pants and a cloth was sewn on top of it. The latest transit was tested on the pants he was wearing when he landed at the airport. The inspection was led by Assistant Commissioner of Customs Faiz Mohammad, Superintendents PC Chacko and S Nandakumar and Inspectors Dilip Kaushal, Joy Sebastian, Manoj Yadav, Sandeep Kumar and Yadu Krishna.
